Sometimes a bunch of unruly odds and ends just need to be put with some friends and given a little purpose and organization.
- Acrylic case
- Decorative paper
- Moth wing
- Acorn cupule
The first step was preparing the acrylic case: making sure it was clean and taking the compartment measurements.
Then, the selection of decorative paper. I already had a color palette in mind and fortunately a whole stock of paper that fit the type. It became a mosaic of black and grey and gold and green and purple, with matte and metallic sheens, and smooth and velvet and rumpled textures. They were all cut down to specifications, and then fitted into their spaces, with a careful eye for balance and composition. Each piece a component to a larger whole.
Finally, the natural treasures found their homes. Their placement was largely intuitive, but was guided by balance and those trusty elements of design: line, shape, texture, color and size.
